INTRODUCTION
Hello! I’m Greg Neil, a Los Angeles-based free-lance photographer. I bring the same enthusiasm and creative eye to weddings, events, portraits, headshots, and whatever else needs a camera pointed its way. My favorite photographs are the ones that tell a story; they invite you to examine them a little longer by the way they capture a scene’s emotion, or the way they bring a unique perspective to their subject. I love capturing spontaneous candid moments at weddings and special events. When shooting portraits, one of the most important (and fun!) parts of my job is to put people at ease in front of the camera. Making that personal connection is often the difference between getting just a nice photo of someone, and getting an image that really allows their personality to shine through. My work is fun, and hopefully by reading through my blog you can get a sense of my personality and photographic style, and determine if I’m the right photographer for you.
ABOUT ME
I grew up near San Jose, graduated from BYU in 1997 with a BS in Business Management, and most recently worked as the Lead Genius at The Apple Store in Santa Monica. I quit Apple after 5 awesome years to pursue my creative interests, including, of course, photography. I’m also a musician, having played in a number of bands over the years, most recently as a songwriter/singer/guitarist for the Los Angeles-based indie rock band Kettle. I also enjoy composing score music for film. A few years back I helped develop and acted in a small indie film called “Think Tank” that was recently released on DVD. And like just about everyone in LA, I’m writing a few screenplays.
I love sports, play basketball, softball, and a little golf, and enjoy backpacking when I get the chance. I love staying active, and recently made a big diet change, going almost completely meatless after studying the research presented in the book “The China Study” by Dr. Colin Campbell. I try to eat mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and beans. I’ve never felt healthier!
